Review: Wheels: Reynolds Attack Carbon Clinchers
I have ridden on my fare share of wheelsets over the past 4 years. Sure, I have not used too many high end carbon
wheels, but these are one of the sets that has seen its fare share of abuse. I started using these wheels regularly since May of 2007. I
have logged over 4000km on my set. I can say that they live up to what they are meant to be: a tough set of wheels. They are light enough
that you can take them to the local crit or hill cimb. Then on the next day, you can take them out for a 180 kilometers of pain during your
endurance ride. The only draw back that I see is in the carbon rim brake surface. You need to make sure that you never get any metal grit between the rim and your brake pad. If you do, you might damage the braking surface on the rim. With repeated abuse in that manner, you void your warranty on the rim. You even might end up with a wheel that comes apart as you ride. On the flip side, these wheels are one of the best options for training wheels that can be used as race wheels. The price is about $1200. Check eBay for deals. Also, make sure that you purchase Swiss Stop Yellow Brake Pads. They stop the best in all conditions with this wheel. Also, Reynolds recommends the Swiss Stop brake pads.
