Buying 102: Knowing what to buy

Using eBay to buy something may sound hard and difficult. Maybe you have heard horror stories about people who buy items, and something seriously wrong happens to the transaction or the item itself. I do not have access to the amount of auctions that are successfully completed in any given day of the year, but I would easily put my money on the knowledge that most transactions occur without incident. Both sellers and buyers complete their agreements, and mutual feedback is provided by each parties in the affirmative. Around the office water cooler or college classroom, you may have heard about friends or office workers who use eBay to find all of their Christmas presents, birthday presents, gifts for friends, and unless other uses of products available on eBay. For someone just entering the strange and magnificent world of eBay, you might need to start off with having an idea about what you want to buy. Like the internet, eBay has products from the cheapest baseball card from 1988 Topps to million dollar homes along the Florida gulf coast. Maybe you desire to buy a car or a new luxury toaster for the kitchen, you can find nearly everything you would ever need.

To return to my original thought, you need to have an idea of what you want to look for and purchase. For example, you might need a new upconvertor DVD player for your new flat screen HDTV that your family purchased for this past December. To begin the search, look at various guides for upconvertor DVD players on web site such as cNet.Com or ConsumerReports.Com or a large variety of home theater web sites and magazines. Once you have a good idea that you want, for example a Sony or Toshiba model, then you goto the eBay web site. Remember to write down or make note of the specific models from Sony or Toshiba that have been reviewed to be what you are looking for in this product. Example the Sony DVP-NS9100ES. Since that is the player that I want to buy, I will goto the eBay web site and search for that specific model. In my searching, I found that 7 items correspond to that model of Sony DVD player. The cheapest was selling for about $250 plus shipping. The most expensive item was selling for $699. I will write a short article on choosing the specific item to purchase and how to win at a future date.

To conclude, I would merely bid on the item for which I am looking. If no one else in the world is bidding on the same item, I will win. You will win.

If you do not now what to buy, you can browse various categories on the eBay web site. Imagine eBay as a totally new part of the web to you. Just start clicking and find items that you did not know are available on the internet. eBay is the world's largest garage sale. Some items are brand new while others can be considered junk. As the saying goes, 'One man's junk is another man's treasure.' Happy bidding!

Summary

-Have an idea of what you want
-Research the product on credible web sites/magazines
-Search eBay for those products
-Choose and buy
